PLAYGROUND MEMORIES

It’s just another end of hectic day

Forgetting to feel the warmth of sunlight caressing me at dawn,

I woke up!

Failing to enjoy the sun setting behind the beautifully mottled sky,

I am in rush to have a lie-down!

Perk ourselves up before another day is found

Pending days to reach our goals are being cautiously counted down

I get going and going…to find my better ways

Self-assuredly, passionately & mindfully,

…for the fear of missing out one single day

Sometimes the scenes of good old times crept into my mind

It keeps me from going and even makes me turn around

It’s more than a reverie

In it, everything is quite vivid

I am going now to a certain place.

Trying to track the trail left by my memories

I’d travelled far from this humble place

The trail will go through picturesque scenery

My old astonishment of the nature coming back to embrace me

Under the crystal clear sky

Lush pine trees are swaying with morning sunshine

A gentle breeze takes the fragrance of the past

Telling memories of best moments will eternally last

Little birds are tuning melodiously welcome back song

I know the trail will take me to a place where I truly belong

Temples in ruins and empty wells

…where dangerous and venomous snakes dwell

They were the very 1st play ground of little daredevils

Old small buildings are saluting their master

…who had once been a thrill – seeker

Jumping from the rooftops of them with an umbrella

The stairways we used to cycle down

…are all covered up with slimes

Wrecked schooner in which we used to lie down

… is still our irreplaceable cloud nine

I can hear the tinkling bells

Harmonizing with the monks’ chanting rituals

Oh it’s pleasant to hear these sounds

Everything seems so lovely in this town

How far am I going?

I just keep walking impatiently

This winding leafy lane is still unchanged

I remember the times we played skipping games

Oh I wonder if my dear ones are still the same!

Tonight they are visiting me

Then we will have our private jamboree

I love to dance crazily with my old granny

Before I sleep, she will continue her 1001′ nights stories

I think life is incredibly enjoyable when one has no worries

Oh lighten up!!! It’s not the way life could ever be

We had best moments, We had the darkest times

We’d been black sheep, We’d been scapegoat

The only thing we never gave up on was hope

Tomorrow I will be going back to my place I have

Trying to blaze my way to something I want

I will travel more far than this and that place

The trail will go through different scenery

I am not sure everywhere I go will be warmly welcoming me

But still ok!!!

I love candle light and I also love neon light

I just need to be right in this so called life

Poisonous Carrots & Thorny Sticks

Blind Incentives & Cruel Punishments

Convincing Coax & Fearful Threats

Pain for Pleasure or Pleasure for Pain

You almost got killed cause of poisonous carrot

You walk all over others for those blind incentives

You lose your way under this convincing coax

They know what you want

They know what you are afraid of

Take yourself away… free from Lust & Fears

Walk thousand miles.. Cry thousand times

To be the same man you had once been

Can’t find help anywhere

Except the true fact that refuge is in yourself.

MARMELADE

Regret

PHOENIX

Torn out into pieces

Burnt into ashes

With a sorrowful and broken heart

And hurt in the sea of regrets

As if life could never come back

But don’t forget one thing

that every phoenix reborn after death

with much more greatness and strength.

They are talking ’bout Sustainability!!!

Posted in culture, ecology, education, essays, society with tags , , on November 27, 2008 by moesway

Dreadful catastrophe Nargis took place here…sad event for all of us..Organisations are busy with resettling….everyone is talking about sustainablity….ACF was looking for volunteers…A few months later…Our monk from youth development centre had adopted children victims of Nargis…now they seem to overcome the sad moments…i am not quite sure though…Some are teenagers…who r gonna sit for the matriculation exams…they don’t really seem to understand what they are learning… my French students at this monastery do hate reading…i was like them when i was young…However, one day this centre will be like Tomoe…children will be like Tottochan Who knows…..

Would you agree with me if I said “Sometimes it was the sad events themselves which tell us life is worth living for”? They wake people up who are drowning in daily activities, making money and who are putting some important things to be done off. Suppose we get only two or three days left to live and after this the world will be in ruin. Luckily there’s a way out of this tragedy. In this case, what would we do? Of course, our priority will be finding the way out to save the world. The unique difference between the reality and this imagination is that most of us believe that this kind of tragedy is less likely to occur in our lifetime. It doesn’t make sense that our sympathy, humanity, solidarity and awareness arouse only when catastrophes occur. Here is my fav quote…Though we may live a hundred years with carelessness and selfishness, yet better, indeed, is a life of one day for a man who devotes himself to higher consciousness, consideration and morals.

The true happiness depends upon if we can live in harmony with the nature and our society. And it’s also the first step of sustainable development. Both of us have experienced the bitterness and danger of the extremes. Nowadays people are talking about sustainable development. What is it??? Sustainable development is a way of managing economics, socio cultural, environmental problems and resources in moderate and moral ways with regard to both short term and long term benefits. It promotes not only the healthy environment but also the healthy mind. In this dynamic world, it might not be too easy to practice what we preach and to have the balancing actions. In spite of this, we aren’t supposed to be satisfied with the thought we are meant to be.

Our fortune lies within the combination of forecasting, preparation, opportunities and efforts. There’s always a better way. For instance, in order to reduce the poverty and famine, crops are genetically modified. On the other hand, it does have something to do with the food safety. As a result, we need to find better ways to ameliorate the negative effects. In managing the sustainability in socio cultural context, we must consider the fact that culture can be evolved out over time though some customs are deeply rooted. Youngsters overlook their own culture being considered as retro. On the other hand, we are responsible to keep our own culture and traditions. A good example is youth behavior and the way they dress. In our country, we’ve managed to work this out. In university campus, girls are asked to wear modestly and to wear sarongs. It can come to a question whether students complain about it or not. Sarongs are no longer considered as out of date thing in our country since they are adjusted according to the taste of youth without ruining traditional style. One of the alternatives to prevent our society from cultural pollution is to focus on promoting cultural tourism. So is my objective. Nowadays, tourism plays an important role in the dynamic sector of the economy. Tourist’s search for authenticity become a motivator for the protection of one country’s own tangible culture and intangible culture. Governments and social organizations ought to organize traditional activities frequently. To facilitate the socio cultural problems provoked by tourism can be solved out using the system of cultural appraisal of social anthropologists.

Studying these two case above, it shows that sustainable development is an ongoing process. First it comes into our mind the sense of protection and preservation to avoid potentially regrettable loss. Secondly we try to find the means. After that, we assess it, implement it and take actions. Certainly there must be an effective strategy and monitoring system. When our strategies don’t seem to suit the current and future situations, improved strategies must be sought. What’s vitally important here is the integration and commitment of all sectors including public sectors government, its public, INGOs, specialists, business sectors and so on. Every investment should be assessed carefully in terms of MORSE money leakage, opportunity cost, return on investment, socio cultural pollution and environmental awareness It won’t be easy as it said to be balanced in all dimensions especially in developing countries. My teacher once said that in a developing country like Myanmar, we couldn’t even properly differentiate the marketing concept and sales concept, so it would take long to realize societal marketing. In my opinion, to fix this problem, all we need to do is to put the right things in the right place (over exploitation of natural resources and under utilization of human resources.) it’s interrelated with one country’s education system. While we are giving emphasis to the external brain draining problems, we didn’t notice the hazard of internal brain draining. Students, universities and organizations are expected to be capable of bridging the gap between the theories’ world and the real world. Courses about epistemology, cultural diversity and biodiversity are ought to be added. By means of this, problems like expatriation will not mean a big threat to a country with men of intellect.

We…intellectual mankind are stuck in the stage of knowledge. We are informed by outside world, we conceptualise them, evaluate ourselves, we gain knowledge and sparkle our personalities. There’s something we miss here is emotions. Sometimes it was fears Sometimes it was love: fear of losing things we love, fear of seeing the impermanent nature, it was them who make us step up. We have to be truly afraid of losing endangered species which perform as a helping tool in our mankind’s survival mechanism. Sellers market their products to be well known. Why don’t we see creating environmental awareness and protection as a product and make it well known?. In creating powerful and effective marketing communications, a model AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Awareness) could be used in encouraging people to save our environment.

Being human is a gift granted and it’s too much to waste our time devoting too much to the gratification of materialism. Why do people want to escape from the urban lives? Why do they spend a lot of money just to see the ways of life of their fellow creatures? When each thing reaches beyond its tolerance, everything starts to go wrong. A failure to have the balance in every single action drives us into dangerous conditions. No one can keep us from standing on the dangerous edge but ourselves.

Unbridgeable Gaps?

One of my senior tourist guides once said that ” you grew up in a big town…born rich…u wanna see the ways of life…wanna see the real lives of your folks who have to struggle to death in their lives…you take pictures of them… you wanna imagine how if you were in their shoes..u go into the wild..funny thing is u keep drinking soda water….sometimes i wanna call it voyeurism dear!”

i’ve read this in one photo journalism magazine “You’ve never been more important than people in your photographs taken”

A novelist said “They might be happy. but Happiness arisen from ignorance shouldn’t be taken into account.”

We try to lead them into better lives. Needs & wants will never stop at one level. Anyhow, at least everyone should meet the basic needs. Wealth is always to be shared & Gaps are always to be filled aren’t they??

Though tears blurred my eyes, i can still see the truth.

Though nothing can seem to dull my pain, i will never hanker for sympathy.

Though it’s my burning wish, i never tried to turn you around.

My pride is preventing me from falling apart. But my sincerity is letting me confess that i am hurt.

I will tell you truthfully what happened behind the scenes.

I never thanked you for your posies. We both know that they have thorns and i am the one who got pricked.

Every untrue words spoken with your forked tongue got me stumbled along. I’ll always thank your words for not enabling me to collapse. But just so you know it did skin my heart.

if you are expecting me to cut the wrists or to hold the grudge against you, i think i only have myself to blame for not fulfilling your wishes.

I’d been trying to piece my heart together before you gave me an official goodbye handshake, before you left me for someone.

What’s the point of wasting my time longing for you when you are living your life?

From now on, i am gonna pick up the fast lane and i am gonna gear up so as to leave you behind. When tears blur my sight, i will use tears wiper. When it gets dark, i will turn my headlights on to blaze my way. I am in fifth gear. By the time you catch me up, dun forget to look into my eyes, you can find neither revulsion nor affection Cherie.
